The Flowers of Muursla

Muursla (Mycelis muralis) is a plant of the composite family (Asteraceae). The heads of the branched stems of this plant are usually only five flowers. It is found in moist, shady areas, for example in forests, on walls and willow trees. Muursla is 20-100 cm tall.

The genus is monotypic Mycelis, it contains only one species.

The flower is pale yellow. The head is about 1 cm in diameter. The involucre is cylindrical.

The heads are on branched stems and bloom in June or July to September.

The lower leaves are stalked and lyre shaped. They are just pieces. The upper stem leaves are comprehensive and often a pink haze over them. The upper leaves are less deeply cut than the bottom.
